The Door That Wasn’t There [Eposide 1]

I shouldn’t be telling you this.

Not because it’s forbidden…
but because once you know, something changes.

Not around you.

Inside you.

And when that happens…
it’s already too late.

Last night, something was different.

Not loud.
Not obvious.

Just… wrong.

You know that feeling, right?

When the world looks exactly the same,
but something beneath it has shifted?

Like reality is wearing the same face…
but it’s not the same thing anymore.

I woke up at exactly 2:17 AM.

I didn’t check the time.

knew it.

That’s what bothered me the most.

The room was silent.

Too silent.

No distant cars.

No pipes.

No wind.

Even the air felt… still.

Like everything had paused.

Waiting.

And then I felt it.

That sensation.

The one you can’t explain.

Like someone is watching you…

…but not with eyes.

I sat up slowly.

My heart wasn’t racing.

That would have been normal.

Instead…

it was calm.

Too calm.

Like my body already knew something I didn’t.

I looked around the room.

Everything was exactly where it should be.

The chair.

The window.

The half-open curtain.

The shadow of the streetlight leaking inside.

But the hallway…

The hallway felt different.

I got out of bed.

Barefoot.

The floor was colder than it should have been.

Not just cold.

Unnaturally cold.

Like the warmth had been taken out of it.

Each step echoed just a little too clearly.

Not louder.

Just… wrong.

Like the sound didn’t belong to me.

And then I saw it.

At the end of the corridor.

A door.

It wasn’t there before.

I know that with absolute certainty.

I know every inch of this place.

Every corner.

Every crack in the paint.

Every shadow.

There has never been a door there.

And yet…

there it was.

Not glowing.

Not moving.

Just… existing.

That’s what made it worse.

It didn’t look supernatural.

It looked normal.

Old wood.

Dark surface.

Slightly worn edges.

As if it had always been part of the apartment.

But it hadn’t.

I stood there for a long time.

Longer than I can remember.

Because something inside me had already understood:

This wasn’t an accident.

Doors don’t appear.

Unless something wants them to.

And more importantly…

unless something wants you to use them.

I should have turned around.

I should have gone back to bed.

Pretended I never saw it.

But I didn’t.

Because something else was happening.

Something subtle.

Something dangerous.

I wasn’t just curious.

I was being pulled.

Not physically.

Not like a force.

More like…

a memory.

A feeling I couldn’t place.

But it felt familiar.

Too familiar.

Step by step…

I moved closer.

And with every step…

that feeling grew stronger.

Not fear.

Recognition.

Like I had done this before.

Like I had walked this exact path…

stood in this exact place…

stared at this exact door…

more than once.

And then I reached it.

Up close, it felt… wrong.

Not in the way you’d expect.

No strange markings.

No symbols.

No signs of anything unusual.

But there was no handle.

No keyhole.

No hinges.

No way to open it.

And yet…

I knew exactly what to do.

I raised my hand.

Slowly.

Almost gently.

The moment my fingers touched the surface—

Everything stopped.

Not just the sound.

Not just the air.

Everything.

And then, It spoke.

Not out loud.

Not through sound.

Directly into me.

Soft.

Calm.

Patient.

“You took your time.”

My body froze.

Every instinct I had screamed at me to run.

To turn around.

To get away.

But I didn’t.

Because something far worse had already taken hold:

I wasn’t surprised.

I was expected.

And that meant only one thing.

This wasn’t the first time.

The door began to open.

Slowly.

Silently.

Without force.

Without resistance.

Like it had been waiting…

just for me.

The darkness inside wasn’t empty.

It wasn’t just a lack of light.

It was depth.

Like looking into something that wasn’t a space…

but a presence.

And then I made the mistake.

I looked inside.

I wish I hadn’t.

Because it wasn’t a room.

It wasn’t a place.

It was something that noticed me.

The moment our “eyes” met, I understood.

Not everything.

Not clearly.

But enough.

Enough to know this:

I had been there before.

Many times.

And I had forgotten.

On purpose.

Before I could step back, before I could think, before I could even breathe, It spoke again.

“Now you remember.”

And something inside me…

shifted.

Not my thoughts.

Not my body.

My memory.

Fragments.

Pieces.

Echoes of something I wasn’t supposed to recall.

Doors.

More than one.

Voices.

Not just this one.

And me.

Always me.

Standing in front of them.

Opening them.

Again.

And again.

And again.

I don’t remember what happened next.

Not fully.

But I know one thing.

When I woke up this morning…

The door was gone.

The hallway was normal.

Everything was exactly as it should be.

Except, I locked my apartment before I went to sleep.

And this morning…

it was already open.

🖤

If you’re reading this…

don’t ignore the feeling.

When something in your space feels slightly off…

when a place looks the same… but doesn’t feel the same, Don’t assume it’s your imagination.

Because sometimes…

it’s not your world that changed.

It’s you…

finally noticing it.
